Chartered Surveyor in Ryde

JMD Building Consultancy is based in Ryde, and much of our residential work is in and around the town. We carry out RICS Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys on all types of property, from flats on the Esplanade to family homes in Binstead and Haylands.

Property in Ryde

Ryde grew rapidly in the 19th century, and a large part of the town is made up of Regency and Victorian buildings, much of it within the town's conservation area. Many of the larger villas and town houses have since been converted into flats.

Common issues we look at in Ryde properties include:

  • roofs, chimneys, parapets and rainwater goods on older buildings, where maintenance has often been deferred
  • damp in solid walled houses, and the effect of cement renders and modern paints on older masonry
  • alterations and extensions, and whether they appear to have been properly built
  • shared elements in converted flats, such as roofs and external walls, where repair costs are usually split between leaseholders

Buying a Flat in Ryde

If you are buying a flat in a converted building, the condition of the whole building matters as much as the flat itself. Our report will highlight visible issues with the shared structure and point out questions for your conveyancer about the lease, service charges and any planned major works.

Local Surveyor

Being based in the town means we can usually offer inspection dates quickly, and we know Ryde's housing stock well.

Which Survey?

We carry out both the RICS Level 2 Home Survey and the RICS Level 3 Home Survey in Ryde. The right one depends on the age, construction and condition of the property, and on any changes you plan to make. If you are unsure, call us before you book and Joel will advise.
