Chartered Surveyor in Cowes and East Cowes
We carry out RICS Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys on both sides of the River Medina, in Cowes, East Cowes, Gurnard and Northwood.

Property in Cowes
Cowes has a large stock of Victorian and earlier terraced housing, much of it on steep streets running down to the waterfront, alongside larger period houses and a growing number of modern waterside apartments. East Cowes has a similar mix of older terraces and newer developments.
Issues we commonly look at in the area include:
- exposure to wind and driven rain, particularly on elevated and seafront properties, and its effect on roofs, render, windows and pointing
- houses built into sloping ground, where retaining walls, drainage and damp at lower levels need careful inspection
- older terraces with shared chimney stacks, party walls and rear additions
- flood risk for low-lying waterfront properties
Waterfront and Second Homes
Many properties in Cowes are bought as second homes or holiday lets, or sit empty for part of the year. Buildings that are not lived in full time can hide problems such as leaks, condensation and blocked gutters for longer. A thorough survey is particularly worthwhile for these properties.
Which Survey?
We carry out both the RICS Level 2 Home Survey and the RICS Level 3 Home Survey in Cowes and East Cowes. The right one depends on the age, construction and condition of the property, and on any changes you plan to make. If you are unsure, call us before you book and Joel will advise.
